SUMMARY:2021 Skills Clinics (16+)
DESCRIPTION:MTBK 2021 Skills Clinics   2 hours – $55 \n Register at https://zone4.ca/reg.asp?id=26482  \nBeginner Level 1 –   Brand new to the sport\, or still struggling with the basics of Mountain biking from lack of confidence or fear? We will explore the A\, B\, C’s of riding a bike\, outside of a trail network to gain the confidence to “drop in” to trails like Demo\, Home Loop and the Sand box. \nBody position\, Gearing\, and Breaking are those foundational skills\, along with Terrain Awareness\, will give you the ability to make confident decisions on the trails! \nSaturday July 24th   8:00am – 10:00am \nLadies only Tuesday July 27th 6:00pm – 8:00pm \n  \nBeginner Level 2 –  So you know how to ride a bike? Gearing makes sense\, you use your breaks\, you can “make it” through trails like Demo and Home Loop\, but there are still some errors that catch you up on the trail. Maybe you are “riding your bike” vs “driving your bike”?  Bike body separation for pumping\, turning and lifting your wheels over roots and rocks are still challenging you. Then this is your place to be. Practice drills for all of the above will help you become more adept at reading the trail and then responding with your body to get your FLOW on! \nThursday July 29th 6:00pm – 8:00pm \nLadies Only Tuesday Aug 3rd  FULL \nThursday Aug 5th 6:00pm- 8:00pm \n  \nIntermediate Level 3- You’ve been riding your bike confidently for a while now\, you want to go faster\, become more efficient and nail the technical features on the trails “South of Burbrook”.  Direction control\, Pressure control and Timing and Coordination become essential skills to practice. Or have you OTB’d way too many times and cannot analyze why?  We will go all the way to the beginning and try and break some of those bad habits that may be putting you in danger\, and teach you how to “read” the trail and move from “riding a bike” to “driving your bike”. \nSaturday July 24th  10:30 am – 12:30 pm \nSaturday July 31st 8:00am – 10:00am \n  \n  \nRegister at https://zone4.ca/reg.asp?id=26482  \n  \n

SUMMARY:MTB Kingston's Night Eliminator
DESCRIPTION:  \nFree registration is now open for the Night Eliminator race (happening on Sunday\, August 29 from 6:30-9:30pm)! https://zone4.ca/register.asp?id=26652. We are doing mandatory (but free) registration this year for race events\, to help track participation and manage insurance requirements. This is a new step for MTBK members. We appreciate your patience with the bureaucracy and will do our best to make the process simple.\nMeeting location and time: Sunday\, August 29 the Barn\, at 6:30pm for registration confirmation\, pre-race COVID screening\, and a course pre-ride. Racing will go from 7:30-9:30pm.\nThis casual evening event is a club favourite\, combining night riding and a unique race format. What is it?! The Night Eliminator follows an elimination format\, with riders doing laps of a short loop (less than 5km)\, each lap eliminating riders within a shorter and shorter distance of the leader.\nBut I’m slow! I’ll be eliminated right away! First off\, no you won’t. The first few laps are very easy going\, everyone should get in 2 or 3 laps. Second off\, that’s half the fun! At the Night Eliminator\, the racers become the spectators! By the last few laps\, you’ll be having so much fun cheering the speedies on you’ll have forgotten the pain of elimination! (Unless you are one of the speedies…then you’ll just be in pain 😜)\nThis race is for full club members only (day passes or one-time registrations will not be available).\nThis is a fun\, friendly and informal race\, ridden much more like a ride. Our primary goal is to provide inclusive\, educational and exciting events for all MTB Kingston members\, for all categories of ability\, accessibility\, genders and skill. All participants are welcome. For this one just make sure you have sufficient lights to ride at night!! \nSPECIAL COVID PROTOCOL NOTES:\nIn order to comply with Ontario’s COVID plan\, we have capped registration at 100. This includes all non-race participants – if you have family who will be attending as support\, even if they aren’t racing\, they must also register (and must be a MTB Kingston member). This is a first-come\, first served\, hard limit. There will be no exceptions to the 100-participant cap.\nWe will be conducting COVID screening as part of the race sign-in process. We hope to keep this straightforward and lightweight – a verbal screening\, in conjunction with your registration information gathered here. We recognize that these are a lot of hoops to jump through\, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and good humour.
