If You Think It’s A Good Idea, It’s Not.

I generally don’t fancy myself as a complete moron, but when I looked at my trainer this morning, then looked outside into a magical snow globe, I’m ashamed to admit that my moronic tendencies got the better of me.

Most rational people would remember previous cautionary trail reports about substantial amounts of ice, look at the small dusting of snow we had received, and decide to hit the trainer. I, the moron, could only think of one thing; “Damnit, I want to ride a real bike!”

I’m an experienced winter rider, with a very good set of studded tires, yet this morning’s ride served as my yearly reminder that studs are completely useless when there’s powder on top of ice.

In keeping with our commitment to never again post “Trails Closed”, I won’t tell you you can’t ride. You really can’t do any damage to the trails in their current state. They can, and likely will damage you though.
